À propos de la formation

The MOOC on Adapting Buildings to Climate Change is an e-learning course that will help you understand how to adapt buildings to climate change. It is divided into different sections that will focus on the following questions:

  • What will the impact of climate change be on the building and real estate sector? Why are buildings particularly affected by the issue of climate change?
  • How do you carry out an assessment of the climate risks facing a building or housing stock?
  • How can we devise an adaptation strategy at the building or park level? What are the measures that can be taken and how can they be prioritized?
  • Which actors should you rely on and how can you ensure that all stakeholders are involved in the process?
  • To go further, how can we integrate climate change adaptation into a more comprehensive approach to resilience?

In each of the sections you will find different modules containing educational videos, explanations from climate change or buildings experts, quizzes, and additional downloadable resources that will allow you to delve even deeper into the subject.

Objectifs pédagogiques

The main objective of this course is to enable real estate actors to develop skills in adapting to climate change, and to highlight the main levers available for them to do so.
The objectives of each section are as follows:

  • To consolidate knowledge about climate change (scientific and regulatory framework, causes, the current situation, consequences) and grasp the direct and indirect effects of climate change on the building and real estate sector
  • To provide methodological tools for assessing the vulnerability of a building and raising awareness among the various stakeholders
  • To identify and prioritize adaptation actions, and to provide information resources and present an overview of the main actors involved
  • To become familiar with the actors involved in climate change adaptation, as well as the tools and resources available to everyone
  • To adopt a vision of climate change adaptation that is integrated into a more comprehensive approach to risks

Format et organisation de la formation

The MOOC runs over the course of five weeks.

A new chapter will become available each week so as to pace your learning.

The time commitment is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours per week to complete the week’s workload, and you will have the option to explore certain topics in greater depth and participate in optional activities. The course sections are divided into 15-to-20-minute segments that will allow you to progress step by step.

Pré-requis et public visé

There are no prerequisites: the MOOC is open to everyone.

This course is particularly intended for public and private building owners, developers, investors, landlords, building users, members of professional organizations, academics, and students.

Évaluation

You will be given a graded assessment at the end of each section. A certificate of completion for the MOOC will be awarded to those who answer at least 70% of the questions correctly.
